The Korean medicine doctor assesses symptoms, warning signs, underlying conditions, and medications to determine the suitability of Chuna manual therapy. Chuna manual therapy is a Korean medicine manual treatment performed by examining the movement and function of joints and muscles. Depending on the patient's condition, acupuncture and pharmacopuncture can be planned together with exercise; however, the provided treatment may vary from clinic to clinic. We also review the purpose and precautions for each treatment, including medication and injections, and collaborate with other specialists when necessary.
We address pain management and functional recovery together.
Pain relievers and injection therapy can play a role in reducing acute pain and aiding daily life. However, pain reduction does not necessarily mean recovery of joint movement, muscle strength and sensation, or gait; therefore, actual function is re-evaluated after treatment.
If there is no response, we do not repeat the same treatment.
If pain and function do not change after treatment for a certain period, or if new numbness/weakness, severe swelling, or heat sensation appear, the evaluation and treatment plan must be reviewed. If necessary, we recommend imaging tests or consultation with other medical institutions.
